october 2013 078These are some of the comments we received from local residents who came to the first ever Friends of Ancells Farm Barn Dance at the Ancells Farm Community Centre in October.   80 people danced the night away at to the Kingfisher Ceilidh Band, who did a brilliant job of playing a large selection of different songs and with their caller helped us to learn the dances.  We had a fish and chip supper from Ancells Fish & Chips shop and we also had a licenced bar.

Environment & Faith Festival Bramble Ramble, Sunday 21 September 2013 – Friends of Ancells Farm is proud to have supported the Environment & Faith Festival for a number of years with conservation work in the park and woods and a Bramble Ramble in the park where we picked blackberries whilst enjoying the park views and play areas.  We also planted some plants that have been kindly donated.

‘Back to School’ Pub Quiz, Sunday 8 September 2013 – The third annual Friends of Ancells Farm pub quiz took place at the Falkners Arms in September.  Our largest number of teams ever took part in this fun event and we raised over £120 towards our projects.  This year’s theme was ‘back to school’.  Thank you to Alyson and Matt Chorley for dreaming up the questions; to Matt for being an excellent compare and to the Falkners Arms for letting us use their pub free of charge.

Spring Action Day, Saturday 13 April 2013 – Despite another very rainy Saturday, we braved the conditions to plant the final ‘spare’ trees and tidy up in the park. We also cleared brambles at the far end of the park to enable our wildflowers to grow again.
