Hedge and Bulb Planting

Many of you will remember back to 2011 and joining in with our tree / hedge planting.

It’s so satisfying to see how the saplings have grown into beautiful hedges for the benefit of humans and animals alike.   We have started filling in the gaps between the banks of hedges to make the boundary safer at the play park end of the park and what better environmentally friendly and attractive way to do this – more hedges!

We’ve been granted 130 saplings from the Woodland Trust and approx. 500 crocus bulbs from Fleet Rotary.  These were planted on 18th November 2018 and we had about 15 volunteers turn out to support us.  Thank you!

Refreshments were provided, with a variety of home made cakes and tea expertly made by Duke of Edinburgh volunteer Oscar.

We have also planted lots of spring bulbs in the park to give us lots of colour in the early part of the year!
