Come and join us at our AGM

Putting in two new pieces of play equipment, planting hundreds of bulbs and a Christmas tree, holding a Jubilee picnic, wildlife walk and quiz night are just some of the achievements of Fleet community group Friends of Ancells Farm.

The group is now entering its third year and is appealing for more people to come forward and become members.

Joining costs just £5 a year per household and the money is used to enhance Ancells Farm and put on events, creating a community feel and making it an even better place to live.

Friends of Ancells Farm is proud to have won two awards reflecting its achievements during 2012. The group was delighted to be the first ever recipients of Fleet and Church Crookham in Bloom and Fleet Town Council’s Chairman’s Cup for its work in the park.

The second award was for achieving Level 3 in the RHS It’s Your Neighbourhood campaign which supports local community groups in greening their environment – whether that’s the street they live in, or a small patch of communal land needing a revamp. Judges took into account aspects such as community participation and gardening achievement.

Chair Nicola Saunders said “We are absolutely thrilled by these achievements and would like to thank everyone who has taken part in our events and supported us by joining the group.

“We want to keep going and moving forward in 2013 and to do this we need to have more members. To join costs just £5 per household and we send a couple of e-newsletters a year about what we are up to.

“This year we are delighted that an outdoor table tennis table will be installed at our park, and others in Fleet, thanks to the town council.

“Other plans for 2013 year include building a bridge across the ditch from the park to the Falkners Arms, and another nearer the woods. We would also like to do some work in the woodland area of the field and will continue to support the re-vamp of the pavilion.

“If you’d like to find out more about us, please come to our AGM on Monday February 25 at 8pm in the Community Centre on Ancells Farm. And remember joining the group does not make you committed to anything – it’s a way of showing support for what we do.”
